After months of closure for restoration, finally, the Marengo Museum reopened its doors this afternoon, in the presence of Mayor Gianfranco Cuttica and the other city authorities. Also the staff of “La Fermata Resort” was present at the inauguration ceremony.
"Here's what gives boldness to our dreams. They can come true."
This sentence by Le Corbusier, reported in 8 different languages, welcomes us at the entrance, built inside the majestic pyramid built in 2009 and wanted by Napoleon himself, to imperishable memory of his greatest victory.
The exhibition path, which has remained unchanged after restoration, is on two floors. The ground floor dedicated to the cultural and political context that led to the battle of Marengo, gives us the impression of walking through a history book. Do not miss the clothes of the French court of the time! The first floor, instead, is dedicated to the actual battle, with great attention to details of the lives and habits of the soldiers, as well as their uniforms and their weapons. Very interesting the "touch and try" spots, where you can also embrace a faithful replica of the musket supplied to Napoleon's soldiers.
Although without substantial changes in the path, the restoration has really given new life to all the exhibits, as well as the frescoed ceilings, never as beautiful as today.
What better moment of this, therefore, to visit the most fascinating museum in the city?
Marengo is waiting for you, travelers.
